Laparoscopic Partial Hepatectomy: Animal Experiments
As a first step in firmly establishing laparoscopic hepatectomy, we introduce a porcine model of laparoscopic partial hepatectomy. This procedure has been successfully performed under the normal-pressure or low-pressure pneumoperitoneum condition supported by the full-thickness abdominal wall lifting technique. An ultrasonic dissector combined with electrocautery, newly developed by Olympus Opt...
متن کاملPlasma Prothrombin: Effect of Partial Hepatectomy
Extirpation of a large portion of the liver in rats results in a marked decrease in the plasma prothrombin. The plasma prothrombin level gradually returns to normal during the period required for restoration of the liver to its normal weight. The decrease in prothrombin incident to partial hepatectomy supports the thesis that the liver is concerned in the manufacture of plasma prothrombin.
متن کاملRegeneration of mouse liver after partial hepatectomy.
The rapidly growing liver tissue after partial hepatectomy has been used advantageously by in vestigators to study changes during accelerated growth and proliferation of cells (4, 7, 12, 15). Previous reports have been chiefly on rats. In many instances, pooled samples were taken for chemical data. In the present investigation a com prehensive study was made on individual samples of regeneratin...
متن کاملSilymarin Accelerates Liver Regeneration after Partial Hepatectomy
Partial hepatectomy (PHx) is a liver regeneration physiological response induced to maintain homeostasis. Liver regeneration evolved presumably to protect wild animals from catastrophic liver loss caused by toxins or tissue injury. Silymarin (Sm) ability to stimulate liver regeneration has been an object of curiosity for many years. Silymarin has been investigated for use as an antioxidant and ...
متن کاملA Nuclear Membrane Change after Partial Hepatectomy
Partial hepatectomy (67 per cent extirpation) of the rat leads to a change in the membrane of liver nuclei (purified with citric acid) detectable as an increase in electrophoretic mobility. No change is detectable 2 hours after the operation, but between 2 and 6 hours about a 1.4-fold increase in mobility occurs after which the mobility becomes constant at the elevated level. Removal of only 10...
